Long Term Plot Network Effectiveness Monitoring Program (2013)

The Long Term Plot Network (LTPN) evaluates the effectiveness of guidance tools that facilitate the establishment of sustainable terrestrial ecosystems on the reclaimed landscapes in the Athabasca oil sands region. Sampling of reclaimed plots in 2013 was the first time new protocols and data analysis described in Pickard et al. (2013) were implemented. Based on the sampling in 2013 on 17 existing LTPN reclaimed plots and establishment of three new plots in existing direct placement areas and three new plots in new reclamation areas, several recommendations to clarify the protocols were made in order to improve the quality and usefulness of the data collected.
